Sylwia Nikel answered on 11 Mar 2018:

I wanted to explore different cultures and learn English. I was considering Canada, Australia, and the UK. I have chosen the UK for two reasons: my family was closer and I didn’t need a visa to come to the UK.
I’ve been here just over 10 years (I came on Valentines day 2008). I lived in Scotland, Cornwall, in the South of England near Portsmouth, then in Manchester and now Birmingham. I met a great group of friends in Manchester and among them David, my partner with whom I’ve been together now nearly 5 and a half years. David is English and he is trying to learn Polish now, which is hard for him.
Every day is great and hard too. Great because knowing English and being in the UK allows me to speak and get to know people from all over the world, different languages and cultures and we all speak English, it’s fascinating… It is sometimes hard as well because my family is not that close. Overall, however, I am enjoying here and planning my life with David.
